Different areas of the earth tend to have a different types of climate- from hot and dry deserts to cold and snowy polar regions.
An area's climate depends mainly on 3 things:
1) How close it is to the equator. The Equator is an imaginary line around the middle of the Earth.
2) Its height from sea level. Sea level, a term referring to the level of the sea's surface, is used by Climatologists in order to measure the height of geographical features such as hills and mountains. Also, sea level is used as a barometric standard.
3) How far it is from the sea.
